OH MY GOD. I loved reading this! WOW you’re writing is so captivating and the characters so damned rich in details. From the way the king puts ALL of his energy into eating, as the servant do menial tasks for him. The sons having to witness their father’s chest baring. God I loved this. Thank you for sharing. Your character and dialogue was so real and witty. I got a good laugh, a good sigh, and a deep appreciation for this piece you’ve created. Killer.

Third person! Great descriptions. “Blue wine”? Fun world building! I liked the gradual revealing of the layers of the relationships between the characters.

As soon as I read this line, I predicted correctly how it would end: “This man wore the stoic look of someone who had been itching to be king his entire life.” Which was fun because I love figuring things out, but I wonder how it would look if it was done more subtly?

It happened in your last story too, when the protagonist stressed how every able-bodied man was wanted. Then, I thought, oh, so he’s going to—

And was right. I think it’s well done, don’t get me wrong, I’m just curious how telltale you want those details to be. Anyway, cool stuff!
