Nepal - Poem
One step at a time
Thousands of steps,
Laid by people long passed,
I climb as they did,
And look out upon the sunrise,
The ancient Himalayas,
Forged by the Earth’s rage,
Reach into the sky,
Piercing clouds,
To meet the stars,
I’m on my way.
In the thinning air,
My will is thickened,
Desire pumps my blood,
The silence between steps,
Imprinting thoughts into mud,
Fears left on worn-smooth stone,
Worries trickling downstream,
Waterfalls carving rock,
Echoing persistence,
The summit asks,
‘Will you meet me?’
‘I will,’ I say,
On the many steps,
I still must climb.

It’s very hard to say I have a favourite but this is wonderful and I love the title and when the summit asks ‘will you meet me’. I was there with you walking those steps and feel you have captured the essence of your inner journey.❤️
Hey Taro - a beautifully heartfelt, free-form poem, without rhymes, but with plenty of reason. X
